“And above all, do not lose your desire to walk; I walk myself into a state of well-being and walk away from every illness; I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it”

Soeren Kierkegaard

Why walk and talk?

The very short answer is; that walking shifts our emotional state like few other activities and that Nature improves our mood and sense of wellbeing.

Here are some more wonderful facts about walking and talking;

  • Communication improves as walking side by side allows us more space to reflect and become aware of new perspectives
  • Walking and time spent in nature regulates your nervous system making you less likely to react to your loved ones in ways you later regret.
  • You integrate and new learning more deeply
  • Walking improves your mental and physical health
  • You can enjoy having given yourself an act of self-care as you are having a parenting coaching session.

The topics we will cover

  1. You and your relationship to yourself:
    In this first session we explore the connection between your inner state – your needs – and how you respond to stress and overwhelm when with your loved ones.

    We get clear on what might be standing in the way of your own needs being met and identify ways to build in more margin in your emotional system to allow you to better cope with the pressures of family life.
  2. Boost your connection
    In this session we look at ways that you can feel more connected to your partner and children.

    What makes you feel connected? What hinders connection? What can you do more of to boost connection in your family?
    Connection is a pre-requisite for being able to lead without the use of threats, shouting, blame and shame.

  3. Boundaries and asking for what you need
    What does it feel like to say no to your children and what happens to your family’s conflict level when you communicate boundaries or don’t ask for what you might need?

    Our ability to set boundaries is crucial to our sense of feeling like there is enough space for us in our relationships and in our family.
    We explore;
    The ‘good no’
    And next level boundary setting skills that lead to greater cooperation.

  4. The power of a good routine
    What is your family’s stress zone?
    Whether it is around transitions, bedtime or mealtime – having a known routine can have a major positive impact on your family’s conflict level.

    Getting clear on what is expected, what values guide your decisions and working as a team is a powerful way to reduce stress and disagreements and create more harmony in the family.

  5. Love Language
    Love is a doing word
    How might we ‘do’ love in ways that FEELS loving to our kids and partner?

    By becoming clear on our own love language and how it might differ from those closest to us, we can more successfully connect with each other without feeling misunderstood or rejected.

    This session takes connection to the next level

  6. Responding to misbehaviours
    Do you agree about disciplining and consequences?
    Do you feel you are parenting in response to each other; when mum is soft – dad gets more strict and vice versa?

    This session will allow a new perspective on discipline that can make you feel more united as parents when the children behave in unwanted ways.
    We explore alternatives to threats and ultimatums and you will get clear on how you can redirect and stop unwanted behaviours while communicating that all of your child’s feelings are welcome.
