Walk and Talk sessions

· "And above all, do not lose your desire to walk; I walk myself into a state of well-being and walk away from every illness; I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it" - Soeren Kierkegaard ·

Why Walk and Talk?

The very short answer is; because shifts our emotional and physical state like few other activities and because being in Nature improves our mood and boosts our wellbeing.

Here are some more wonderful facts about walking and talking:

  • It is easier to talk when we walk side by side, not fixed in eye contact and free to reflect and get in touch with new perspectives
  • Walking and spending time in nature regulates your nervous system and increases your endorphins and lowers your stress hormones. This makes you less reactive whenever you feel triggered by your loved ones.
  • You integrate new learning and anchor your thoughts better when you walk
  • You get to do self-care WHILE enjoying the benefits of a parenting coaching program

The topics we will cover

  1. You and your relationship to yourself
In this first session we explore the connection between your inner state – your needs – and how you respond to stress and overwhelm when with your loved ones.

We get clear on what might be standing in the way of your own needs being met and identify ways for you to build into your emotional life more of a margin, to be able to cope with the pressures of family life.

    • Boost your connection
In this session we look at the ways that you can feel more connected to your partner and children. What severs your connection? What boosts your connection?

You will get tools to help you boost connection and to allow you to deposit into your connection account with each of your children and partner on a daily basis.
Connection is a pre-requisite for being able to lead our children without the use of threats, shouting and constant ultimatums.
      • Boundaries and asking for what you need
What does it feel like to say no to your children?
And what happens to your family’s conflict level when you speak up about what you need or when you fail to communicate your boundaries in time?

Our ability to set boundaries is crucial to our sense of feeling like there is enough space for us in our relationships and in our family.
        We explore:
        The ‘good no’
And next level boundary setting skills that lead to greater cooperation

      • The power of a good routine
What is the most stressful part of the day for your family?
Whether this is around times of transition, bedtime or mealtime – having a supportive and known routine, can have a major positive impact on your family’s conflict level.

Getting clear on what is expected, what values guide your decisions and working as a team, is a powerful way to reduce stress and disagreements and create more harmony in the family.

      • Love Language
        Love is a doing word.
How might we ‘do’ love that feels loving to our kids and partner?

By becoming clear on our own love language and how it might differ from those we love, we can more successfully with each other without feeling misunderstood or rejected.

This session takes connection to the next level.

      • Responding to unwanted behaviours
Do you agree about your approach to your child’s unwanted behaviours?
Do you feel you and your partner are often parenting in response to each other; when mum is soft and understanding – dad gets more boundaried and firm – and vice versa?

This session will introduce you to a new way of interpreting your child’s unwanted behaviours and give you new tools to use that will make you feel more aligned and united as parents.

We explore alternatives to threats and ultimatums and sticker charts, and you will get clear on how you can redirect and stop unwanted behaviours while making your child feel safe to share their feelings.
